Yay! :-) I am so happy you painted Alice.
She is one of my favorite fairy tale personalities, besides Peter Pan, who is my ultimate favorite!
I am a long time admirer of your paintings! :-)
    You rock.

I was at my grandmother’s and she had a huge bookshelf. Well, I found a very old copy of Alice in Wonderland, from the early 30’s and my grandmother let me have it :) I have read it from cover to back and I’m so afraid it will rip, but it’s one of my most precious items from her.

It would be interesting if Alice was already in the Imaginary and jumped into the Hole that was actually Reality (but a lot more fun reality!).

  • amandasshorty says:

ok so i think that alice in wonderland is like a imaginary world the reaon i say it cause when i was younger like 5-7 years old i reemember that every night i would go to my treehouse and read the book even dough i finished it i read it again and again and again cause it was a great stroy its this rabit and a girl with these people made of card man i wana read it again

mew, i love alice in wonderland too! your painting is brilliant and you have the most precious voice <3

what i love about alice in wonderland is that, its just a way to live life, nonsensically but also curious . dreaming or questioning reality. it pushes me to think. and the disney movie made i colorful and funny. and its also funny! i can never feel bad when i read or watch alice in wonderland. unless is jan svankmajer alice, then it gets a little spooky ^_~

    much love

When I was younger i use to stay up into the late hours of the night reading Alice’s adventures in wonderland and through the looking glass. I can recite it from front to back. and it has inspired so many songs, poems and even drawings for me. It has always been a huge influence in my life, and I cant wait to pass it down to my children and keep the pure nonsense thriving.

  • thatspud says:

    I’m glad you’re looking! It’s really great. (:

    Seabury,

I admire your graciousness towards those of us who admire Val. Seldom do I see a comment anywhere that applauds the opinions of the the viewers so simply yet eloquently as yours.

However, words are art too. Though we all use the same words the picture they can paint is different for each of us. I would encourage you to share your hearts feelings even though you feel you’ve seen them put up already. You can do it, and I’m sure Val will appreciate it.

I never watched alice in wonderland as a kid! :[ but i am sooo excited to see tim burton’s interpretation of it.

but i did actually read the actual book this past summer, and i thought alice represents you, the reader, and how she (meaning you) are alone in the world..you are alone in a world of equally strange people. It’s so sad! but at the same time its so poetic. at least that was my interpretation of her.

  • MadeCapatin says:

i never got alice in wonderland as a kid.. and by the time i understood parts of it, i wanted to go back and not understand it b/c you just embrace the nonsense and by it not making sense, it made sense… does that make sense???

  • Noideaforausernamex3 says:

    Wow.. Thx Val. n__n

Alice in Wonderland is an amazing story. I remember being read to as a kid, and this was one of the stories I always enjoyed. Your painting is amazing and definitely captures the essence of Alice. I wish I was as talented as you!
